About 4th Grade GATE
Children should be provided with an environment in which they feel safe, are challenged to reach their highest potential, develop a love of learning, know that everyone is valued and can achieve, and are prepared for success in higher levels of learning. Reach for the stars!
Homework packets will be handed out every Monday or first day of each school week. They are to be returned to class by Friday morning. Please make sure that you have followed all directions on the homework packet cover page each week. Also note that homework is considered an assignment for class and will be graded. The same efforts put into class assignments must also be given to your homework assignments. Since this is a weekly packet, make sure that you are organizing your time effectively to ensure the completion of your homework packet by Friday.
I am challenging students to read a variety of book genres this year. Please see the Homework page for a list of the genres and the number of books I would like for students to read. They may read them in any order they wish, but the goal is to read 16 books from these different genres. Other than poetry, the books should be at least 125 pages.
Each student has received a daily calendar folder for the year. Each day, students will write down what they will need to work on for homework that night. Students will be responsible for getting a parent signature in their daily calendar each day. Students MUST write down any work not completed in class, as well as daily math lessons and homework packet work. We are working on being responsible for our home and class work. Please make sure that daily calendars are signed each day.
Students will receive one purple note home each week in their purple Monday folder, which contains graded work and their weekly homework packet. The note will let you know any assignments your child is missing and how their behavior was in class for the previous week. Please make sure that you look for these notes every Monday. Review them with your child and sign them. Have your child return them to class the following day.
